The Lake
A path through the Tapeley Park wood with mainly huge oaks and beech meanders down to the lake. In season one can see the most beautiful Camellias, Primula (primrose), Rhododendrons and many wild flowers The wood contains some of the oldest Thuja Plicata trees in the country. If one sits quietly by the lake you may be lucky to see the Kingfisher with his brilliant plumage, even a fox taking a stroll and large dragonflies milling around the water lilies in late summer. There are often ducks with their young on the lake. This for many is the most magical part of the gardens.
